In-depth analysis workshop on the monitoring and evaluation systems of the National Agriculture Investment Plan and Food and Nutrition Security (NAIPFSN) and the implementation of measures and reforms necessary for monitoring and evaluation system in the agricultural sector was held from 29 to 31 March in (Centre Regional AGRYMET, Niamey, Niger).

Given that ECOWAS commission through Department of Economic Affairs and Agriculture attaches great importance to the implementation of NAIP and the collection of quality data, a study was initiated by DARD through the EU-funded PAGR SANAD project. The aim of this study is to contribute to determining the status of implementation of the NAIPFNS in the countries as well as their M&E systems in order to propose measures for their improvement. 

Following the recommendations made by the consultant and the validations workshop hold with the Member States on the diagnosis of the NAIP and their M&E systems study.

In-depth analysis workshop on the monitoring and evaluation systems of the National Agriculture Investment Plan and Food Safety and Nutrition (NAIPFSN) and the implementation of measures and reforms necessary for monitoring and evaluation system in the agricultural sector was organized from 21 to 23 March in Guinea Bissau (Hôtel Dunia, Bissau).

The objectives of this workshop are: (i) to better understand the challenges of the agricultural sector working group in Guinea Bissau, (ii) to analyze the gaps in terms of data production/monitoring and evaluation system and data production in place, (iii) to analyze the use of analytical networks of national experts that can feed the activities of the agricultural sector.

Civil society, producers' association, researchers, government actors were present at this meeting.

At the end of the three-day session, three detailed action plans were finalized. These were an action plan to revitalize the functioning of the agricultural sector working group, an action plan to improve the data production on agricultural statistics and an action plan to set up a national researcher analytical network.

The Directorate of Agriculture and Rural Development together with its technical partners will work to find ways and means to implement these action plans together with the countries and key stakeholders involved.
