ECOWAS is publishing the first issue of the Agroecology Newsletter - Special COP27 Edition
By Admin / 6 months, 3 weeks agoIn the face of the climate crisis, action is urgently needed. With the support of its partners (EU, AFD), ECOWAS is promoting the transition of West African agriculture to agroecology. The Agroecology Program in West Africa responds to the challenges of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the need to adapt agro-sylvo-pastoral systems to the consequences of global warming.
In the context of COP 27, ECOWAS is publishing its first Agroecology Newsletter. It reports on the efforts of the Community, States and professional actors to promote and support a sustainable transformation of agricultural and food systems. As part of the Regional Agricultural Policy (ECOWAP) and the ECOWAS Climate Strategy, "agroecology reduces carbon emissions, protects soils and biodiversity, takes care of women and men, ensures their nutrition and provides them with the means to protect, educate and care for their children, the future generations."
The Agroecology Newsletter, which will be published quarterly, is the communication, information and liaison tool between West African and international agroecology actors. It will report on good practices, results and impacts of field projects, stakeholders' views, new publications, regional and international initiatives in the field.
