ECOWAS and CILSS, through the EU-funded Project to Improve Governance for Resilience, Food and Nutrition Security and Sustainable Agriculture in the Sahel and West Africa (PAGR-SANAD), have carried out an assessment of the extent to which nutrition concerns are mainstreamed in the policies, strategies, plans and programmes of the contributing sectors (Agriculture, Health, Social Protection, Hygiene/Sanitation, Education).
Given the deficiencies identified, highlighted, and shared by the stakeholders, it seemed essential and timely to establish a regional framework for guidance and action from the perspective of the agricultural sector to help fill the gaps. The specific aim of this framework is to improve the integration of nutrition into West African agricultural policy, in particular through agricultural investments and interventions that are more nutrition sensitive.
To this end, and through a participatory approach, a Regional Agenda for strengthening the mainstreaming of nutrition into agricultural sector policies and programmes in ECOWAS member states, Mauritania and Chad has been developed and validated.
As a prelude to the start of its implementation, all the intergovernmental organisations would like to launch this Agenda to the public via a webinar.
You are cordially invited to the online meeting, which will take place on 20 May 2024 from 14:00-16:00 GMT.
