Following the signing by all Contracting Parties of the Convention establishing the Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC) on November 7, 2007, in Cotonou, Benin, the FCWC Secretariat organizes annual ordinary sessions of the Conference of Ministers of the Organization.
The session of the Conference is held in turn and in alphabetical order among the Contracting Parties, in accordance with the provisions of Article 7 of the Convention establishing the Committee. The last ordinary session of the Conference of Ministers was held in Cotonou, BENIN, from December 15th to 17th, 2021, and reviewed the implementation of previous recommendations, ongoing projects, and regional initiatives on fisheries management.
The 14th session of the Conference, which will be held from 11th to 13th January 2022, will give Member States and other stakeholders the opportunity to review regional efforts and actions taken at national level in fisheries for the development of the sub-region. The theme of this conference session is " Supporting Effective Fisheries Management for a Sustainable Ocean Economy ". The session of the Advisory and Consultative Committee (ACC) will be held on January 11th and 12th, 2023 and the ministerial plenary will be held on January 13th, 2023.
